MEHNDI!

Greetings!

My cousin got married this past weekend and I had to share one of my favorite events of an Indian wedding which is the Mehndi ceremony. The event was quite small with just a few family are friends but all of us got henna/mehndi and I thought I would still share some photos with you all.

Mehndi or henna is a paste that is bought in a cone-shaped tube and is made into designs on the legs, feet and palms during weddings and various Hindu festivals. The day of the Henna, a ceremony during which henna is applied to the hands and feet of a bride-to-be, and often to other members of the wedding party are for adorning the bride, and often the groom, with henna. Henna was regarded as having “Barakah,” blessings, and was applied for luck as well as joy and beauty before the wedding day.

Another fun part of the event is wearing bangles and decorative bindis. The ceremony is filled with music, food and drinks.

It was such an amazing weekend celebrating with my cousin! I hope you all enjoyed this post and I will see you soon..

Until next time..
