MASCARA SHOWDOWN!

Greetings my beauty lovers!

Long time no see! I have been super busy with classes and if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you know I was in New York for the weekend! But, I ‘m back now and today I am bringing you guys my mascara showdown!
I love lashes! I think mascara makes such a difference to your makeup and I love trying new ones out. I have tried a bunch of high end and drugstore mascaras and decided to share my thoughts with you guys!

Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara:
This is such a great mascara and I didn’t expect a lot from it. I think it just seemed like something I would have tried before, but after using this a lot, I’m loving it! It really plumps up the lashes and it is super black. The best part is that it gives you those fuller looking lashes in seconds of applying it and there are no clumps involved, which is awesome when your running late. It is called lash multiplying because it does contain three different high-volume fibers to create those perfect false eyelash effects. It is super black and amazing!
L'oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara:
I was excited to try this and thought it would be by new found love, but I was so disappointed. This mascara gives you some volume, but I think it’s clumpy and dry. It didn’t lengthen my lashes and the bendy applicator made it very annoying to apply. Another big issue I had with this one is how flaky it was. It flaked a lot and also dried out very fast. I wasn’t the biggest fan. I know this worked for many people, but it didn’t work for me!
Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara:
I have heard so much about this mascara and decided to finally pick it up! It gives your lashes a ton of length and a natural voluminous look. It isn’t clumpy at all and I like to layer this with another mascara for more fuller voluminous lashes. If you like a natural look, this one is for you. I prefer long full lashes with a ton of volume, but this is great for a natural everyday look.
Revlon Lash Potion by Grow Luscious Volume + Length Mascara:
I usually don’t try Revlon mascaras, but picked this one on a whim. This mascara adds a lot of volume and is super black for my lashes. The brush is quite big, but is easy to apply. It cannot be used over and over again, because it can clump up very easily. If you are in a hurry and can only use a coat of mascara, this one will work well, but if you are someone who needs at least two coats and wants more volume, this one will end up clumping and flaking.
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara:
This baby is such a cult favorite. The only thing I love about this mascara and have gotten from any other mascara is how black it is. It is super duper black and look perfect with every makeup look. The formula isn’t too thin or too thick and I love the brush. It doesn’t clump up and gives great volume. The only downside about this is that it can be very hard to take off. I have to use a ton of makeup remover and my Bioderma to get it off my eyelashes, which can be kind of annoying because it pulls off lashes.
Maybelline Pumped Up! Colossal Volum'Express Mascara:
This is my holy grail/favorite mascara ever! I love the formula and it gives me lashes that I didn’t know I had. This has mixed reviews all over the internet, but it worked for me. It gives you fluffy voluminous false looking eyelashes. It lasts all day, doesn’t smudge and is super black. I stopped using it for a while because I was busy trying new mascaras, but I just repurchased it! The only downside of this mascara is the brush. It is HUGE! I hate how big it is because it can be hard to apply. It can also flake sometimes, but the volume it gives, makes me go back to it every time.
CK One Color Mascara:
This is quite a unique mascara. It has this cool adjustable brush. I like how one of the brushes help gives length and the other one volume. It is a no clump mascara! I really do love the brush idea and it actually works well. It isn’t my favorite because it is quite dry and isn’t the blackest. It can also be hard to remove sometimes. It doesn’t give you the most false looking lashes, but again if you enjoy natural looking lashes with a mix of volume, this one is great.
Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Mascara:
So many people love this mascara and I had to give it a try. This for sure gives some volume and length to your lashes. It helps separate lashes perfectly and makes them look thicker. It isn’t the wettest formula so you have to watch out for how many coats you apply because it can flake and get clumpy. I still find it quite natural for me, but I like to apply it with another mascara.

As you can tell, I have variety of drugstore mascara's in this post! I just find they work well and are affordable to try out.

Hope you enjoyed and some of these work for you! Everyone has different lashes, so they may work differently on everyone.

Until next time!

  1. Excellent post.
I am one of those people who adore the Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Mascara. You are totally right though, I have really long eyelashes so I have always had trouble with this mascara getting clumpy and crazy looking if I get a bit heavy handed.
After reading this post I'm definitely going to try some of the others that you mentioned. :]

    Thanks.
    xx Sasha

I too am a massive fan of drugstore mascaras, so many favourites I never have been curious to go high end. I see a lot of my favourites in this post and so many are on my list to try! That maybelline colossal volume mascara is currently in my daily rotation.

  12. Hi there! I know! Drugstore mascaras are great especially since we have to keep changing them every three months! I am using the Maybelline Colossal too and really like it! :)
